It was a gorgeous warm afternoon in Mesa yesterday, on the first official day of spring. The 84 degrees and sunshine at first pitch seemed to agree with the Cubs as they topped the Rockies 4-2. It was great to see KB hit is first HR of the spring with a no-doubt shot to left in the 6th inning. Jake Marisnick in his first start at Sloan Park for the Cubs also blasted a HR.
Cubs starting pitcher Trevor Williams continues to impress, going 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits, 4 Ks, and 0 walks. Craig Kimbrel who has been a work in progress this spring, tossed a no-hit, 2 K inning. Pedro Strop also returned with an inning, allowing the Rockies final run, but got the save.
The Cubs are back at Sloan Park today playing the Reds. Go Cubs!
