Episode 5 of Season 2 is a music video of the song “Clear The Way,” a Cubs Rock Anthem that dropped prior to the historic Chicago Cubs 2016 World Series Championship season. It’s performed by the Rose Reeves Project, feat. Blake Rooker on the smokin’ lead vocals. The final version of the song was played before each game of the historic 2016 season at Sloan Park, the Cubs spring home.
Co-Written by CubTalks host Tim Sheridan, who also produced and edited this music video, which was released on September 22, 2016 (the reason why you don’t see 2016 playoff, or W.S. footage) in the video. “Clear The Way” accompanied the Cubs all through that magical season when the 108 year World Series drought was finally vanquished on November 2, 2016!
The project started when two Cubs super fans, Tim Sheridan and Dango Rose (from the band Elephant Revival) had a chance meeting in 2013. Not long after that, they came up with the idea to create an old school style Cubs rock anthem. During spring training on St. Patrick’s Day in 2014, the idea of using some Irish/Gaelic language in the lyrics came about. This led to the lyric “Faugh a Ballagh,” which translated, means “Clear The Way.” Eventually becoming the song title.
In the spring of 2016 the final version of “Clear The Way” was dedicated to the 2016 Cubs, the Chicago Fire Department, and the City of Chicago.
