After yesterday’s 11-7 win over World Baseball Classic Team Canada, the Cubs have won 8 straight games! This game was an exhibition and won’t count in the Cactus League standings. Of course, being spring training, these games don’t matter in the big scheme…however, it’s just a little more fun with a win.
Some musical notes from yesterday, Chicago legend Wayne Messmer sang ‘O Canada’ and our National Anthem prior to first pitch. And if you were at Sloan Park, you heard a plethora of Canadian born singers and bands played between innings, including the legendary Neil Young. Rounding out the lyrical ode to Canada, Cubs legend and Hall of Famer Fergie Jenkins sang ‘Take Me Out To The Ball Game’ during the 7th inning stretch. Fergie is the first MLB Hall of Fame player born in Canada. The only other Canadian born MLB Hall of Fame player is Larry Walker, who was the First Base Coach for Canada yesterday.
Here’s some photos from John Antonoff of the Cubs W.
