The Innings Music Festival is going on this weekend in Tempe and a fine musical lineup it is, headlined tonight by Eddie Vedder. As most of you know Vedder is a huge Cubs fan, so it was no surprise to see him at Sloan Park yesterday. Eddie delivered the lineup card to the Umpires yesterday before the Cubs took on the Brewers.

From high in my P.A. perch, aided by powerful binoculars, I could see Eddie on the end of the Cubs dugout. He checked out many of the players bats and held one in his hands for at least a couple innings. Eddie was kibitzing with various Cubs players throughout the game including Cole Hamels and former Cubs ace Rick Sutcliffe.

Yesterday was also Joe Maddon’s Respect Bald event, an annual hair cutting party to raise funds in support of pediatric cancer initiatives.

Oh yes, the game. Not one to write home about, the Cubs lost to the Brewers 7-4. As is common this time of year, the contest was decided after the starters left the game, with 9 of the 11 runs scored from the bottom of the 5th inning on.

Cubs take on the White Sox today at Sloan Park, should be a fun one!
