The Cubs did some slugging over the weekend, scoring 18 runs in two games. Eight of those runs coming on grand slams, Kris Bryant on Saturday and Albert Almora Jr. on Sunday. The Saturday game at Sloan Park was a fun one as the Cubs pounded the Dodgers 9-3 with 15,438 in attendance. Out in Surprise AZ yesterday, the Cubs played the Rangers to a 9-9 nine inning tie.
The Cubs also raised nearly $70K on Saturday with Joe Maddon’s Respect Bald Event, which raised money for pediatric cancer support. Some of the guys who had serious flowing locks (think Pierce Johnson and Taylor Davis) went under the sheers for the cause. Many other Cubs players got the buzz as well. Plenty of fans came out early to Sloan Park to watch the guys get their heads shaved and be a part of this fun event for a great cause.
Here are John Antonoff’s photos from Saturday’s Respect Bald event and Cubs win at Sloan Park.
