This morning I looked north out the window from the K-Cubs broadcasting tower in Mesa, and could see a very dark cloud formation, the appearance was that of a funnel cloud. The next thing I witnessed was an old west movie cliche, but happening in real life – As the wind started kicking up like crazy, I see at least a half dozen tumbleweeds rolling down the street, one after another. Within minutes the downpour started. Needless to say, the Cubs are working in the covered batting cages today, as we have an all-day rain event going on. Not to worry though, the rain will be gone by tomorrow, replaced by 75 degrees and sunshine for the Cubs spring opener at Sloan Park on Thursday.
The Cubs were able to practice outside over the weekend in spite of predictions of rain, so here’s some photos from the weekend at Sloan Park. Those with the BOS watermarks are John Antonoff’s, and the photos without the watermark are mine. Enjoy.
