The Cubs had the day off today, they’ll be back at Cubs Park tomorrow playing the LA Dodgers; it’s the only time the two teams play each other this spring. Hope you had the chance to see the Cubs youngsters play a little long ball last night on the MLB Network, Mike Olt with two blasts, and Javy Baez with an absolute bomb! This is going to be a busy weekend for the Cubs (and me); I consider Monday as part of the weekend, as it’s St. Patrick’s Day!
The Cubs will play seven games in the next four days. Saturday and Sunday they have split-squad affairs, playing the Mets up in Las Vegas, and against Kansas City and Cleveland here in AZ. If you are not going to Vegas over the weekend, you might want to check out Chicago Fest at Mesa Riverview (next to Cubs Park). It runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There will be plenty of Chicago themed music, food and fun all weekend, with a special appearance by “the coach” Mike Ditka on Saturday.
After announcing the Cubs-Dodgers game tomorrow afternoon, I’ll be at Chicago Fest in the evening. I will be manning a booth for the Arizona Spring Training Experience and Cactus League Hall of Fame and doing the same Saturday night. Our AZ Spring Training Experience booth will have an exhibit of some great items from Cactus League history, including some very cool Cubs stuff. Stop by, say ‘hello’, we can talk some Cubs and maybe have a Goose Island.
