What a start to Cubs spring training—nothing but W’s and sunshine! Mother Nature must be a Cubs fan because the weather has been chef’s kiss perfect. And let’s talk about the crowds—13,900 fans per game at Sloan Park in February? That’s almost as impressive as a perfectly executed rally cap comeback… which we saw yesterday as the Cubs came back from a 5 – 0 deficit for a 6 – 5 W over the Rangers!
This past weekend, Tempe was also rocking—literally—with the Innings Festival, which meant some serious musical talent stopped by Sloan Park to toss out ceremonial pitches. We had Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy, representing Chicago with some emo flair (I assume the pitch was thrown with feelings). The Kills brought some rockstar energy, while Gary Clark Jr. hit us with that Grammy-winning blues-meets-rock-meets-soul-meets-hip-hop magic. And then, in a moment of pure harmony, Boyz II Men showed up—because nothing says baseball quite like the smooth sounds of ‘End of the Road.’
Up next, the Cubs take on the Padres in Peoria, AZ, before heading back to Sloan Park for a showdown against the Diamondbacks. I’ll be on the mic in Mesa, so let’s keep those W’s coming! Go Cubs and rock on!
