Mike Olt has been designated to hit, and he’s obliged; another dinger last night, his fourth of the spring. Hopefully, his shoulder is getting healthy, and we get to see him playing third-base soon at Wrigley. His bat certainly appears ready to go. Then there is this other kid, I believe his name is – Baez. Maybe you’ve heard of him, playing a little second base of late, swings a bat with the power of Thor’s Hammer. Another jack for him last night as well, also his fourth of the spring. Oh, but he’s scheduled to start at Iowa, not Wrigley.
I don’t want to get all pumped up about the Cubs top prospects like Baez and Olt, but just watching these guys makes me dream a little. The dream of these guys playing together for years at Wrigley, contending on a regular basis, and then, bringing home the big one…I’m sorry, I must have nodded off there for a moment. Where was I? Oh, the prospects, those talented prospects. Here’s your weekly dose of prospect goodies, with our BOS video and John Arguello’s Cubs Den write-up of the Cubs 2014 Top 35 Prospects. This week, it’s all about the pitching as we move to #20 to #16.
The Cubs play another night game tonight, so do a little prospecting while you wait.
