Brew Crew in Mesa Today

By Tim Sheridan
March 11, 2007

Cubs and Brewers square off at Hohokam Stadium here in Mesa with Jason Marquis getting the start for the Cubs, look for Kerry Wood to pitch in today’s game. Expecting a high temperature of 87 today with lots of sunshine, so don’t forget that sun screen.

Some people have asked why the outfield lawn/berm area at Hohokam is closed until the Cubs finish batting practice, which has been done since 1999. The reason being, too many people were getting injured (broken arms, legs, separated shoulders, etc.) going after batting practice home runs. Adults were knocking over children trying to get to the baseballs, with many resulting injuries. So that decision was made with your and your children’s safety in mind.

If you’re in central Illinois you can hear me talk Cubs baseball every Monday morning during spring training with Larry Duling at 7:50 am central time, on WHOW news radio 1520. WHOW is located in Clinton, strategically located between Champaign, Springfield, and Bloomington.

See you at Hohokam,
Timothy
