Sunny Mesa?

The weather is a bit dicey today here in Mesa, currently a 40 percent chance of rain and an expected high temp of 58, with scattered thunderstorms later this afternoon. Right now it looks fine with some clouds and blue sky to the west so we’ll see how things progress.

As you may have guessed I didn’t make the trip down to Tucson yesterday, like many of the Cubs starters I stayed back in Mesa to get in some extra hitting. One of my goals this March to celebrate 25 spring trainings with the Cubs was to hit a round of batting practice with the team. The Cubs Media Relations Dept. informed me a few days ago this wasn’t possible, but I’m not giving up. I’m going to keep hitting at the local batting cage just in case Lou Piniella or one of the players says – why not let the guy hit a few, no harm in that.
