Signs of Life in the Desert

Well, it’s about time…Aramis showing us a power hitting third baseman and the Cubs sweep a series for the first time since April. You remember April, the month that started out with the Cubs still playing spring training games in Mesa. It’s been a long first half season for the Cubs…and us fans.

My last blog may have come across as a bit negative. I want to make it clear that I’m not giving up on the Cubs, that would never happen. I’m not even giving up on this year’s team; I was just being more realistic with my expectations.

The other day Cubs newly minted All-Star centerfielder Marlon Byrd said: “There’s no give up on this team, we’re just not winning. Once we figure out how to do that we’ll be fine”. Well, the mystery of how to win has been solved – play the Diamondbacks.

If only the Cubs could play against the DBacks every game for the rest of the season.
