Cubs Spring Schedule Released

The Cubs released their 2013 spring training schedule today. The new Cubs schedule is the final piece in a memory blocking game I play to help forget the Cubs 2012 season. I now have no memory of what happened to the Cubs last season! Alas…if only it were that easy. But hey, the Cubs are building for the future. I guess the more time that goes by, the closer we get to that future. Honestly, if you thought the complete rebuild of the Cubs was going to be quick or easy, I’d like to talk to you about a luxury condo I have for sale down the street from Fitch Park.

I can’t believe it’s been nearly three months since my last blog, there are reasons for that, and most of them have nothing to do with the Cubs dismal 2012 season. I was a bit more active with posting on our Boys of Spring – Wrigleyville West facebook page.  However, like the past eight years here at the Boys of Spring website, it won’t be long until you will be receiving copious amounts of Cubs content! “Content” I guess that’s an internet buzzword, what you will really get here is the skinny on the Cubs during spring training.

2013 will be the final spring season for the Cubs at Hohokam Stadium and Fitch Park. In 2014 the Cubs will begin their inaugural spring season at the new $100 million dollar Cubs complex; I call it Wrigleyville West (until I hear what the actual name will be). The new complex is roughly two and a half miles west of Hohokam Stadium at the former Riverview Park and Golf Course.

The Cubs 2013 spring season starts earlier than usual on February 23rd against the Angels in Tempe with the Cubs’ spring home opener the following day, when they take on the World Champion San Francisco Giants. The early start date this spring is due to the World Baseball Classic (WBC). The Cubs currently have no games scheduled against teams in the WBC; in 2009 the Cubs hosted team Japan in an exhibition at Hohokam. Yes, I had a lot of fun that day with name pronunciation.
