A Couple Days at the Ranch

The Cubs will play for a second straight day at Camelback Ranch in Glendale; today facing the White Sox, yesterday they lost 7-3 to the Dodgers in front of a record Cactus League single game crowd of 13,391. That record attendance could be short lived as today’s crowd may be even larger with the cross-town rivals facing off.

It’s no surprise that the Cubs have been involved in nine of the top 10 crowds in Cactus League history. The Ricketts family knows that if a Wrigleyville West complex is built here in Mesa that crowds of 15,000 can be attained with a larger stadium. The Cubs home of Hohokam Park is losing some of the single game attendance marks due to new facilities on the west side of the valley and that doesn’t sit well when your top dog (fan wise).

Tomorrow the Cubs have a split squad playing in Phoenix against the Oakland Athletics and taking on the Kansas City Royals for the first time this spring at Hohokam. Talk with you after tomorrows contest in Mesa.
